Happy Independence Day !

Saturday, 04 July 2015

Independence Day is a BIG DEAL here in Kailua.

It starts first thing in the morning with our Kailua 4th of July Parade and continues on until the wee hours of the evening with fireworks – some legal and some (most) illegal.

Nearly every politician in the state seems to find an excuse to participate in the parade.  The Governor, both U.S. Senators, both members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Mayor of Honolulu, and many members of the state legislature participate.  In years when there is an election, the turnout is even bigger.  Quite the sight to see.

We have an airshow, thousands of beach goers, traffic jams and lots more.  Best of all, we have food.  Lots and lots of food.

This year Ella helped Papa BBQ some of the burgers and dogs.  What a great day!

Thank you for your prayers.

Happy Eleventh Birthday Ella

Saturday, 20 Jun 2015

This weekend we celebrated a very special day – Ella’s eleventh birthday on Sunday, 21 Jun 2015.

Ella’s party on Saturday was an all day event that was well attended by many of her friends.

As usual, we had the “Bouncy Slip n Slide” set up to keep the young and the young at heart entertained.

Ella thoroughly enjoyed every minute of her party.

Ella met Rik and Danny from the Tesla Service Department.

Ella also met Auntie Lani.

Lots of Aloha at Tesla Honolulu – a good time for all!

Third 12-Week Maintenance Phase: Day 1

Monday, 08 Jun 2015

(2064 = ANC @ 09:25 on 08 Jun)

God is the giver of all good gifts: come, let us adore.

Yesterday Ella began her Third 12-week maintenance phase.

As is the routine, she received an infusion of Methotrexate in her Central Nervous System via a Lumbar Puncture (LP).

Thankfully she is fully sedated for these procedures.

After a short stay in the post anesthesia care unit (PACU), Ella was back to being Ella.

Thank you for your prayers.

God bless you.

Lucy’s Riding on Sunshine

Wednesday, 27 May 2015

(1309 = ANC on 25 May)

God is our stronghold, the God who shows us love; let us give thanks and praise!

A few weeks ago Lucy and I went out for a “test drive” in a bright red Tesla.  We both had a great time learning about the amazing car.  However, the most fun was going for a ride and getting to experience the amazingly quick (and quiet) acceleration.

We were both bowled over by the many amazing features of the car.

We can’t wait to get one!

We mourn the loss of our cousin David and pray for his family.

Ella’s Morning Prayer for Sage

Friday, 08 May 2015

(3648 = ANC @ 10:25 on 27 Apr)

God is in our midst, a mighty savior: come, let us adore, alleluia!

Gabriella invites you to pray with her for her friend Sage. Sage continues to have medical issues that require her to be hospitalized on a regular basis. As you can imagine, this is incredibly stressful for Sage and her family.

Thank you for your prayers.
God bless you.

Ella and Her Hog

Tuesday, 21 Apr 2015

(1176 = ANC @ 09:15 on 02 Apr)

Jesus is the king of martyrs: come, let us adore him, alleluia!

Just in case you were wondering…one of Ella’s favorite movies is “Wild Hogs”. Wild Hogs tells the story of 4 middle aged suburban guys from Cincinnati who decide to ride their Harley’s cross country to California.

Knowing how much Ella likes it when she hears a Harley, Nurse Donna gave Ella the DVD (rated PG-13) as a gift. Probably best if Ella doesn’t ask Monsignor Terry over for movie night. Stay tuned to see more photos of Ella and her Harley.

PS: If this photo doesn’t make you want to write a comment,

I don’t know what will.

Thank you for your prayers.

God bless you.

Ella and Monsignor Terry Iral

Wednesday, 08 Apr 2015

(1176 = ANC @ 09:15 on 02 Apr)

Christ is the true Lamb who takes away the sins of the world; come, let us adore, Alleluia!

Today is the one year anniversary of Gabriella’s initial Leukemia diagnosis.

Ella received the Holy Eucharist this morning during Mass at St. Anthony of Padua.

Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Terry Iral.

Today, Msgr. Terry begins his journey back to the Philippines.

We are sad to see him go and pray that he will soon return to our parish.

Thank you for your prayers.

God bless you.
